You dont need a nvidia card too play games. It doesnt make a difference if you use a nvidia or a ATI. Nvidia uses all their money in advertissment, that why you see many nvidia ads in some game you play. but ATi uses their money too make better graphic cards for a lower price. So wichever one you choose and doesnt make a difference, u can buy a decent video card for 200 $
Brand has nothing to do with it. But which mobility card it has does. It also maters if it has It’s own video ram. Or if it steals it from the system ram. If the specs say it has dedicated or discrete ram then that is good. But if it’s shared memory Also known as ram. That Would be bad for performance. So if it’s shared memory that is bad.
If it has discrete or dedicated that would be a pretty good indicator, that it will game pretty well.
As far as Nvidia vs ati, Nvidia After market cards tend to be a little more expensive. But I don’t know if that applys to laptop graphics too. But Nvidia has much better driver support. That is pretty well known. Also since they are by far the biggest company. The game makers tend to work with nvidia to make sure their game runs well on Nvidia graphics cards.
Video RAM is only a component of a graphics card. A graphics cards performance depends on a lot more things.
