Does Seagate Go Through Your Hard Drive When You Send It In?
Q. I have two hard drives that died. They both died under a year ago, one just now, another about four months ago. I know warranty covers them because they were under normal working conditions and just randomly died.
What I’d like to know is if Seagate goes through your hard drive’s content when you send it in.

Nope, they are not in the business of doing that.
They will just replace your drive quickly. If your old drive has just a problem on its circuit board and its platter/mechanism is in good condition, they will replace the circuit board. If the newly repaired drive passes tests/specs, it is wiped clean then becomes available as a sealed replacement item under the label “Factory repaired” so that it can not be passed on as brand new.
