If My Computer Is Down Will The People Sending Me Emails Be So Notified When Sending Me Emails?

Q. I am planning to install a new hard drive on my computer in the near future during which time I am expecting some important emails.
Therefore I want people to know that my computer will not be in operation during that time.
Also, will their emails be saved on my computer until it is again in operation?

Not likely. If your computer is down, your server
will not be able to forward your mail. They will send a
message to the sender saying they are unable to
deliver their mail to your address, and maybe give
    possible reasons why not.
It would be best if you notified the people with whom you
are expecting mail to hold off until your computer is up and
    running.

Unless you warn them in advance they won’t know. Any emails sent during this period will be saved on the server until you collect them (i.e. check your emails).

The way to do this is to set up an “Automated Response.” Depending on your e-mail provider, there will be a unique way to set it up.
