What Should A Graphic Design Portfolio Look Like And Contain?

Q. I need to send off my portfolio to get in to gr4aphic design courses in college, but I am completely stumped on what I should put in and what I should leave out… also, what should it look like?
Links would be nice!

Pictures that you have made, Animations or anything graphically related. I am also planning on going into graphics and I am making a video about random things and just putting effects in it to show my graphical knowledge. You can make just about anything tho. If you made or photoshop pictures, put that in there, any websites you have made video you made or just about anything that has to do with graphics.

You should include some kind of teapot…..
Apart from that I have no idea. Just show that you have a wide range and that you don’t restrict yourself to using certain tools/techniques.

logos and icons you’ve designed, illustrations, websites, any other artistic work you’ve done. Leave out your superhero or anime type drawings if you have them unless they’re really spectacular. They also like to see your thought process, so any rough work that go with the final pieces is good too.
