It all depends on the write speed. We need more specs. As far as reliability, I would have more faith in a WD drive, but that’s not to say that Samsungs are bad.

Western Digital drives tend to be more reliable. Samsung already let me down a couple of times.

Western Digital is better, always! Of all the hard disk brands I have purchased over the last 25 years, Western Digital has always proven to perform better, last longer and have less problems than any other, and that includes Seagate. Always stick with Western Digital if you can.

Flip a coin. Apples to apples, including write speed, cost, etc, it won’t really matter which one you get.

When I bought my TB a month ago, I saw that the Western Digital Black Label and the Samsung Spinpoint F1 were the top performance hard drives. Their product pages are:

    WD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284

    Samsung: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152102

The Samsung costs less and gets the same performance as the WD so I bought the Samsung. Don’t forget to buy a SATA 3GB/s cable and NOT a SATA 1.5GB/s
