How do I find the Network key to the wireless internet in my house?

Q. We have wireless internet here, that a guy came over and set up for us.
I want to hook my ipod touch to the internet but it needs the network key.
How can I figure out the network key? I figure I should be able to find out since the network belongs to us
Okay how do I reset it then?

Yup. Ask the guy what he used. Otherwise you need to reset it. Frankly, I would reset it anyway–I don’t want anyone to know how to crack into my network.

well it depends on what router you have for wireless if its a linksys then you would open up a browser on the computer or go to windows explorer and put in 192.168.1.1 that will access your router if nobody has put a pw on the router and it asks you for one it is admin and admin then go to wireless setting in ur router and find the WPA or WEP Key that is the key you want write it down and use that to hook ipod up. Good Luck!

Sometimes it’s on the back of the router or modem. Look for a 10 digit number. If that’s not it, then you can reset your router and again set it up WEP protected, give it a SSID name and password if you like and assign it your own 10 digit number.
That might get you started. Who is the guy? Is it a cable installer or a friend? the reason I ask is if you can get a hold of them to ask them what the key is….maybe they wrote it down somewhere on a piece of paper and forgot to tell you.
Good luck. But in any case, you can call the router company tech support and they can run through the reset process with you. It’s not hard. I have a Linksys so if you have the same, you can contact me if you want too.

Hi. Open a browser. Type “192.168.1.1″ into the url window. This will open a dialog window. Type in the Username and Password. This will bring you to the router settings page. The key is located under “Wireless” then “Wireless security”‘.
