    He mentioned you need at least 3ghz(in 2008) for the newer games. But what if you have a dual core with 2×2.0ghz. Is it worse just as good or better than a single core with 3ghz? E.g.:What if the game requirements say 3ghz needed would this game run on a 2×2.0ghz cpu? Can I just add the speed of the cores together?

    @ai43v3r
    pushing more power to the cpu than the default, thereby increasing the speed.

    @edwardnese
    No, Intel CPUs only work with Intel mobos.
    Same for AMD.
    You need to look at cpu socket type as well and get a compatible processor.

    there are extreme i7′s that are 3,3gHz, also you can overclock a normal 920 to 4 gHz if you want it..

    no actually because what the i7 has is what ppl call hyper threading (or something) and it doubles the cores (or something like that) so i think that should help :D

    The new i7/i5 processors are excellent. The cheaper versions are 2.66Ghz while that is enough! Tho you could always buy a Quad Core like AMD X4 or Core 2 Quad that have 3Ghz+ more and are cheaper. I recommend the i7 with 2.66Ghz or more ;)

    Could you please clarify something for me. You mentioned that for video editing CPU’s speed shouldn’t be not less than 3.0 Ghz. Does it means that Intel core i5 / i7 processors are not good enough for vide editing, because I found them less than 3.0 Ghz?
