How to make a network between an elavator cab and control room with untwisted cable?
Q. In one of our projects we have found electrician used 2 pairs (4 wires) cable for network in an elavaor cabin and elavator control room.The cable is almost 110 meters and my question is how we can make a network connection with this cable. There is no way to replace the cable. Any idea is welcomed. Thanks
we dont have any sort of access to the cable in the middle.

You cant.
The pairs are twisted at different amounts so transmision reaches the other side at the same time.
Go wireless or use a repeater to achive your objective.

Try connecting one pair to the RJ45 connector to terminals 1 and 2 with the corresponding cable in 1 at each end and then the other pair to the 3 and 6 terminals again with the same cable connecting to 3 at each end. If the cable is good enough you may get a connection. At this length untwisited it may be very prone to electrical interference.
What you have here is basically a telephone connection, so use dedicated modems at both ends.
But you may not even need a “network” connection -you may really be talking about “remote access.” In which case, use the actual telephone connection in the elevator and forget the electricians wires. The PC in the cab is “guest,” the one in the control room is “host.”

AHEM (don’t listen to nay-sayers)…yes, you can, but with much slower data transfer…
With the 2 pair, you keep the same wires on each end in the 1,2,3 and 6 positions.
If it’s not twisted pair, it will be SLOW…maybe about 10-30Mb, because to go any faster, the twists are all the “magic” (magnetic induction).
But, it will pass data, just at old school data rates.
But, it will work, unless there is heavy EM interference in the shaft.
Any way to use wireless access points to do what you want?
