Drivers from a Nvidia card will not work for an ATI card and vice versa. Drivers are hardware specific. To do so (after you have bought an upgraded card) you need to remove the old driver, install the new card, and then install the new driver. Hope all that made sense :D

To get support for the aero effect, you will need to upgrade your card AND THEN load the new drivers. Drivers from a Nvidia card will not work for an ATI card and vice versa. They release drivers for their own hardware. So, no, you cannot use ATI video cards with Nvidia (or any other companies drivers).The only option is to install a new video card.
