All external drives will work on both the OS X and Windows platforms. The only things that sometimes don’t work are specific software that the company might provide with the hard drive. But even that is becoming easier and easier to find versions of for both platforms.

All you have to do is plug the drive in and then use Disk Utility (built into OS X) to reformat it for the Mac. And you can get versions of FreeAgent Go that come preformated for the Mac. They can sometimes be harder to find, but Seagate does make them. As does Western Digital with the My Passport collection of drives.
