Q. How can I safely remove my anti virus software to install another anti virus program?
I currently have norten anti virus program installed on my computer but I want to remove it and install another anti virus program. What should I do first:
Remove the anti virus program and then install the new software
or
Install the new software then remove the old program?

Remove Norton (a.k.a. Fail) and install your new anti-virus. It’s just faster that way. Go the the Control Panel (in start menu), go to Add or Remove Programs, find Norton, click it once to highlight it, click remove program.
Firstly Norton is a b**tch to uninstall, you will need to get the Norton uninstall utility, just using add/remove programs will not work correctly. you can download the uninstall utility from here;

then run a registry cleaner such as ccleaner;
http://www.ccleaner.com/
then you can install you new AV.
What operating system do you have? Windows XP or Vista? If Vista try this.
Start—>Control Panel–>Default Programs–>Once you are on the default programs page look at the bottom left corner and it should say: See Also Programs and Features then Parental Controls. Click on programs and features. The next window at the top it will say Unistall or Change a Program. Scroll down the list until you find what you want, you can double click or right click and press uninstall. Then from there the computer does the rest.
