Looks like a very interesting concept for children to learn how to use their hands as tools to create new things. The children can work alone or with a partner.

I am an IT professional and have a LOT of experience installing and configuring software. However, this product defies all industry best practices. It does not include a full version of the software in the package, it must be downloaded. In order to download, all firewalls, anti-virus and other security software must be disabled. I cringe to think I actually did all that, but eEven then, I was unable to install on Windows XP.

Product should be removed from the market or appropriately labeled as “puzzles only” software, the cool looking USB drawing pad with markers and a camera does not work without the madatory download which is not possible to download.

Our son got this as a Christmas gift this year. He’s was so excited about getting it, but still hasn’t been able to play with it at all. After doing some research online, we’re looking into trying to get a refund.

The installation seems straightforward, but despite all of my efforts (and from my internet research, MANY others are having the exact same issues, the software will not connect to the main update server. The system is totally worthless without the updates located on the update server. Take a look at the forums on the uCreate website (myUCreate.com) and you’ll find quite a few angry and frustrated parents and NO customer support. In fact a couple of entries talk about spending hours on phone support with no resolution and also being told “no one [from the manufacturer] reads the forums”!

I am by no means a computer novice and I am totally stumped as to how to get this product to work. All of my security and firewall settings are good, my system exceeds all of the minimum requirements, but all I can get this software to do is load into a black screen or tell me “The server could not be accessed.” while the software plays music.

Please pay close attention to the positive reviews on this product, they are all months old. All of the newer reviews seem to reflect all of the issues I’ve described above. If I could have given this product zero stars I most certainly would have.

First off, only about a quarter of the games / activities are enabled on the game unless you register the game. Registration is via the actual game and not available through a web browser. I was getting error 3, -9807 when I try to register / create an account. We are running OSX 10.6. with Parental Controls on, Firewall off.

Logged into the Mac with one of the administrator accounts and still received the error. I have parental controls enabled on two other accounts on the computer (not the account I was using when trying to register) so I changed the two parental control accounts to standard accounts and was able to complete the registration and unlock the other games.

After registration, I re-enabled the parental controls (which by the way, you need to do from scratch if you had any time limits or other customized rules in the parental controls) on the two kids accounts, and received the same error code trying to log in as one of the kids and play the game.

Noticed that [...] was being blocked in parental controls so I went and added [...] to the list of sites “always allowed” in parental controls

Still no luck being able to login to this game with all features enabled from an account on a Mac with Parental Controls enabled.

So it seems that as usual whatever regression testing was done on the software is done on a Windows machine with the assumption that it will just work on a Mac.

The documentation and support site at Mattel stink, searching on the error code returns zero results. Hints from reviews here helped me figure out what the problem was but it appears as though there are no solutions. Hopefully this can be returned for a refund.

After downloading extensive updates, this thing will not register and is unusable. Extremely frustrating. I get ‘Error while communicating with server. Error code 3, -5807′. The app had no problem downloading several updates so I know the internet connection is fine. Horrible ridiculous registration process. Piece of junk. Do not buy.
