can i delete the default software on my 500GB mybook western digital?

Q. i have a 500GB mybook western digital external hard drive and it came with software on it. such as a computer backup tool, google chrome etc. i dont want any of this stuff. i only use it to store media. can i just delete it or is it going to cause problems if i do?

    Yes, you can delete it if you wish.

    I have the Western Digital My Book 1.5TB.
    It came formated to FAT32, and I simply formatted it to NTFS (NTFS allows for larger files, which is why I formatted it)… Which deletes everything off the drive.

    The drive will function just fine without the software.
    You don’t need the software on the drive or on your computer at all.
