Can you connect to a remote database using a ADSL connection?
Q. I am trying to connect to a remote database using ADSL connection line since I already has one. But the technician says I cannot do this and I need to have a DSL connection. Is this true? If I am using DSL do I need to take off my computer from my network and set it up with a matching IP address to them.

Insofar as I know, that’s not true.
However, the accessing of a database is restricted to it’s users, so what you need to check whether or not you have the authorization for it.
Cheers
seems confusion is a match . remote ? phone line w/filter ,dsl , computer . remote ?
Most of the DSL connections are ADSLs. So if anything works with DSL so should it work with ADSL. I believe you shoud try a VPN which might help.
The tech doesn’t know what he’s talking about. ADSL is a type of DSL.
To connect to that database, they need to open the appropriate ports, and probably allow connections from your IP address through their firewall.
Ask to speak to someone who knows what he’s doing. That d00b doesn’t.
ADSL has nothing to do with connecting to databases. Get the right port ex 1433-1434 for SQL server access on your router so that you can connect. Find out from the Admin what the settings are.
