Windows defender is not made to be a full time virus solution–it is horrible for that.

Get Avast or AVG. They are both just about the best antivirus available at the moment, and they are both free. I personally recommend Avast, though both are excellent.

The only thing you can do is to remove Bit defender and install some other AntiVirus and then run a scan so that the Virus is removed. I would suggest Kasperasky AntiVirus Trial Version and then you can re-install bit defender.

    2. Find the location of the Virus and remove it from your computer and check for the same name in the Registry files by going to the Regedit:
    1. Click on start.
    2. type in regedit in run
    3. And then check for the file name in H-key current user and the H-key local machine

Reformatting is generally not necessary unless the infection causes extensive system damage. However, many repair shops will only offer the option of a “wipe and reload” because it’s more profitable.

Windows Defender is more of an aggravation than a security product. I would recommend:

1.) Make backup copies of all your important documents, pictures, video, etc.

2.) Download Avira’s AntiVir Personal (Free), Spybot Search and Destroy, and Malwarebytes from http://www.majorgeeks.com, saving them to your desktop. Do not install them yet.

    3.) Disconnect your internet connection.

4.) Uninstall Windows Defender and all other security applications.

    5.) Reboot to “Safe Mode”:

[XP] Click on Start > Run > type MSCONFIG next to “Open” > click “OK” > click the BOOT.INI tab > click “SAFEBOOT” > click “OK” > click “Restart”.

[Vista/Win7] Click on The Bubble > type MSCONFIG in “Start Search” (just above the bubble) > click the Boot tab > click “Safe Boot” > click “OK” > click “Restart”.

6.) Install and run each of the programs you downloaded to your desktop. Delete/clean anything they report.

7.) Reverse the “Safe Mode” process above, and restart your computer.

If the infection is still there, take your computer to a professional tech for cleaning or rebuild. ….Unless you are a glutton for punishment, determined to DIY.
