Is there a way to copy and paste a Windows error message without having to write it down?

Q. Hello,

I occasionally have some Windows XP error messages that I submit to technicians to help me trouble shoot a particular computing problem .

Rather than write down the error message–which is tedious–is there a way to view a list or error logs, and copy and paste the error message? If so, how can I go about doing that?

Thank you for your help and time!

Its hard to copy and paste. but you can have a picture of it.
Learn to use the “Print Screen” [Prt Scr] button On your keyboard.

    good luck.

If it’s a standard windows dialog, simply press ctrl+c. The contents of the dialog are dumped to your clipboard.

*The message box has to be active, of course.

    2 ways:
    1-text:
When faced with the error message window, click on the window’s title bar to highlight it.
Next, press CTRL + C, just like you do when you want to copy a text string or a file.
Now, open Notepad.exe from the Run menu, microsoft word, or email etc. and paste the message by using CTRL + V.
    or
    2-screen shot:
To copy only an open window, click on the window to assure it is active, then press the ALT key and the Print Screen Key at the same time, then release both keys.
Next, open where you would like to paste the image (a document, an image, a presentation, or other application.) . Paste the image by pressing the Control Key and the V key at the same time. The image should appear in your document.
*If you would like to crop the image (this process deletes all but the part of the image you want to keep), paste it into an image tool like Microsoft Paint first. Once you have cropped the image, copy the edited image and paste it into the desired document.

Actually there IS a standard error log that Windows XP makes. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427
This will save you ALL the trouble in the world. No if you want to anyways “catch” it in the act. Use Print Screen and open up Paint then PASTE it. Save the photo a name like ErrorLog.
Yes XP is great in many ways. Stay with XP trust me. If you want to see this log.
    Go to Control Panel
    Administrative Tools
    Then finally to [Event Viewer]
    Cool Huh?
    Take Care
