Q. Is there a way to virus scan something your downloading before actually downloading it?
Let’s say for example you want to download something off megaupload but your not sure if it’s safe. Can you virus scan that file before actually downloading it?

No
I have “Norton 360″ and it can scan first.
Once it has downloaded and before you install you can right click on the folder to run a scan. you should never execute any new downloads with out first scanning and reading the documents. Alway avoid software which has EULA files. For this can and will download unwanted software without your consent. Ie, trojan..
No. The virus scanner is running on your computer, and it can only look at files on your computer. Some virus scanners can hook into your web browser and look at files as they’re coming into your computer from the Internet. Presumably, if it finds a virus as it’s going along, it will offer to cancel the download and delete the part of the file that has already been downloaded. (I wouldn’t know – I’ve only ever had one virus infection, about 10 years ago – an MS Word document that my boss sent me.)
Some websites scan the files that they host for viruses – or they say they do, anyway. Do you trust them to do it?
You could, you know, not visit websites where you think files are likely to have viruses. Or at least use an operating system that doesn’t automatically run anything that looks like a program, just because it thinks you might find it useful…
