SpyBot Search and Destroy! It protects your system from ever getting any spyware on it, in real time!

    http://www.malwarebytes.org

It’s free, is a small download, easy to install, easy to use, quick to scan, and very effective.

    Malwarbytes
    Spybot SD
    Adaware

All three are comparable and completely free…
Spybot might be the simplest to download use.

Thats the trick, finding one for free, which is pretty much impossible, and if you do it probably has a virus with it. your best bet is to download a trial to get rid of it for now, but then you want to buy one immediately. I lost one computer to a virus, its not fun. Try norton, i have had problems with my scan (it will tell me that i have minor spyware but it won’t let me see or delete them, other then that its great, gets rid of all the bad stuff without having to ask me, it just does it on its one)>

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware is considered to be the next step in the detection and removal of malware.

Try running a Malwarebytes scan. Let it remove everything it finds. So make sure you click remove selected after scan is finished. Also after you download the free version it’s important to click the update tab and let Malwarebytes update before scanning with it.

^Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware, this is great, I have gotten a horriable virius in my computer, we had the tech. Guy come over and re recommends this, it searches through all your files and such and is very good.

    Also try Superantispyware. http://www.superantispyware.com/
Its just as great as the Anti-Malmare, you can set daily scans. I use it daily.

spyware doctor . but it aint free. but is one of the top rated.
malwarebytes . Free and works good .

Run several different malware and spyware programs . they all catch different stuff. Just make sure they do not conflict with your antivirus.

Spybot is one of the originators of the anti-spyware genre. It is available for free, in a wide variety of languages, and it is constantly updated to guard against the latest threats. http://bestfree-spyware-virus-trojan-protec.blogspot.com/

Currently Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware are the two top choices. SpyBot is old-school and not nearly as effective at removing todays spyware…

First, for Ian G:Allot of “free” stuff has some kind of Malware or Spyware on it. the secret is knowing what to do after you get it free. However, there are still some honest & good coders out there, putting out stuff that is safe. Spybot Search & Destroy is one of those–IMO. I’ve been using it for more years than I can remember & it’s saved me from alot. Download it here:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
I also use Ad-Aware. Also free with no spy or malware included. Download here:
    http://www.lavasoft.com/
I also run a Panda scan for free once or twice a month at:
    http://www.pandasoftware.com
    Also a Trend House Call:
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
There’s also HiJackThis, but a beginner needs help with it. One of the best free online help sites I know of is http://helponthe.net It’s worth joining & asking what you think are “stupid” questions. You’ll be surprised at what you can learn about your computer & just how much you can get done without paying that $65+ an hour tech!
