st_07 asks
When I try and connect to my wireless router, it asks for a logon domain. What is a logon domain? My laptop has a wireless card built inside and my wireless modem is a SpeedStream 6520 (Bigpond) help?

Perhaps you haven’t loaded any internet provider software on there, or you installed it incorrectly. You should go to the control panel, and check your network connection to see if you are connected.

All you have to do is if you have two computers that u want to connect to the internet the u can have it wireless but if u want the laptop only to have the internet you can have a wireless or you can have a wired modem. u will recieve a cd with it for installiation and jus follow the steps.

if your modem came with a disk, u should install the right driver for the modem, it should take you through the steps.. or ring up your internet service provider and ask for technical help.. i am sure they will get it working for you.. good luck xo

Not come accros this before in a typical home set up.

Sounds as though your machine is trying to access the web via a server (kind of a proxy).

if xp go to start>connect to>wireless netwrok connection.

    once there check your settings.

on the general tab go to the properties button, then select tcp/ip in the list and select properties .

there should be no info listed and the obatain ip address and dns should be selected

if not then make it so

if this doesn’t work then reboot and open internet explorer and go to tools- internet accounts and select the connections tab. in lan setting everything should be blank.

    email me if you need

    good luck

    daryl

ps. [please ensure that you are connected to your router and not someone elses- it does happen from time to time]

Usually Logon Domains are primarily used in businesses, not home networks.

Are you sure your connecting to your ‘home’ wireless router?

It sounds like your laptop is picking up a signal from a nearby business that uses wireless for employee’s w/laptops & its trying to connect to that businesses network/domain.
