How do I connect to a wireless printer via a wireless router?

Q. I have a wireless printer, a wireless laptop and a desktop that is connected by USB to a wireless router. My laptop connects wirelessly to the printer but Im wondering if it is possible to connect the desktop wirelessly to the printer via the router? I have tried setting up a network to no avail. The desktop has XP and the laptop has Vista.
I have tried connecting the printer via the traditional methods but that doesnt work. I have tried connecting it via the USB but that doesnt work. When I click print and I send it to the printer, it counts up to 100% as normal but nothing happens.

just add it as a local printer via a tcp/ip port
print out the ip of the printer and put that ip into the add printer wizard.
    that should do the trick
    good luck!!!!!
