How to access Toshiba Portege Accelerometer API?

I am interested in programming an application that would be able to use the built in accelerometer of my computer
Computer: Toshiba Portege M405 Tablet (w/ HDD Shock Protection)
Language: C# or Visual Basic
I would appreciate if someone would be able to help me out.
