You just got that brand new computer with Vista Operating system installed on it, and you are thrilled. You want to use it NOW, and what better way to use it than to watch a DVD of one of your favorite movies?
So you go through your collection of DVDs, choose your absolute favorite movie, put the DVD in the DVD player of the computer, and… nothing happens. That is because although Vista Ultimate and Vista Home Premium include the codec for DVDs. Vista Home Basic and Vista Business do not.
Actually, nothing is not the right word here. A little pop-up comes up and tells you that you need the correct codec. It also provides a link, but when you click on the link you find out you would have to pay $69 or more for the famous codec.
Well, of course you're not willing to pay that kind of money just to watch a DVD, so you start looking for free Vista codec. Bad idea!
In your search for codec, you will find many questionable sites. They might give you what you need, or not. But what they will definitely give you is a wonderful infection with the wonderful Vundoo/Winfixer Trojan and
may be some rogue antispyware pop-up saying your computer is infected.
So, after you clean the computer from all that magnificent malware, you start wondering if your only choice is really to either pay whatever the sites recommended by Microsoft want you to pay, or go watch your DVD on your old PC (if you still have it), or directly on the TV. This is not your only choice!
There actually is a place where you can find the codec you need without paying and/or getting all kinds of infection. This place is called Source Forge. And thanks to I.T. By The Sea you will not even have to search the site to find the codec because we give you the exact link to it:

You can't do anything with vista - it's made by microjunk. Wanna buy it? Learn to use Linux! Don't pay for software - Donate to support real developers.
